Froth Suppression

When Whitehaven Coal’s Daunia Mine needed a reliable spray system for their de-aeration tank, they partnered with Quintin Labuschagne from Spraying Systems Co. to design a custom solution that would perform under tough mining conditions.
 

The Challenge

Mining sites demand durable, efficient spray systems that can work and perform under low-pressure and flow conditions and harsh environments where there is a lot of solids in the process water. Standard equipment often falls short, so Daunia Mine needed a purpose-built spray header that could reduce maintenance needs while delivering consistent coverage and impact on the froth.
 

The Solution

Our engineers designed a custom spray bar fitted with FullJet® HHMFP ¾ full-cone nozzles for best coverage, ensuring even distribution across the tank. The HHMFP full cone nozzle is the best product for this application as it gives a good coverage and the needed impact on the froth suppression. The unit was built from lightweight galvanized tubing to make handling easier without sacrificing strength.
 
Every spray bar was precision-welded to Australian and international standards by our Melbourne fabrication team and then hydraulically tested in-house to guarantee leak-free performance before delivery.
 

The Result

The new spray bar integrates seamlessly into Daunia Mine’s existing system, delivering reliable performance and longer service life. By tailoring the design to the site’s needs, we’ve helped improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
