Spray Nozzles
Nearly every industrial manufacturer can improve quality and efficiency with the right spray technology. Our 90,000+ spray nozzles are used in more than 200 industries for applications such as cleaning, coating, cooling, drying, lubricating, dispensing, sanitizing, marking and more. With an exclusive focus on spray technology, and with more nozzles than any other supplier, Spraying Systems Co. has the expertise to help you solve your production challenges.
Spray nozzles are used to apply liquid to any application or product that requires it. Nozzles are available in all shapes, sizes and materials. The different designs result in spray characteristics that offer a wide variety of droplet sizes, flow rates, pressure rates, spray angles and spray patterns. Selecting the nozzle with the right spray characteristics will determine the performance of your spray application.
Spray Nozzles 101
As the type and shape of the spray from a nozzle can determine the effectiveness and efficiency of your spray operations. We've listed the basics here.
Spray patterns
Full Cone: Full cone spray nozzles produce medium- to large-size drops forming a solid cone-shaped spray pattern with a round impact area.
The unique vane design features large flow passages to provide superior control and uniform distribution. The full cone spray pattern is ideal for washing, rinsing, cooling, dust control and fire protection.
Flat Spray: Flat spray nozzles produce small- to medium-sized drops forming a flat or sheet-type spray pattern that's typically used in manifolds and headers.
The flat spray pattern is ideal for cleaning, rinsing, pressure washing, cooling, coating and surface preparation.
Hollow Cone: Hollow cone nozzles produce small- to medium-sized drops forming a hollow cone pattern with a ring-shaped impact area. The large, unobstructed flow passage minimizes clogging, allowing for uniform distribution at a wide range of flow rates and pressures, and effective atomization of liquids at lower pressures. The hollow cone spray pattern is ideal for cooling, washing, gas scrubbing / cooling, dust control and fire protection.
Fine Spray: Fine spray nozzles produce very small drops using liquid pressure only - no compressed air required. These nozzles ensure uniform distribution at a wide range of flow rates and pressures, and are easy to maintain. Fine spray nozzles are ideal for humidifying, fogging, gas cooling, evaporative cooling, dust control, moistening, and fire protection.
Air Atomizing: Air atomizing spray nozzles (also called two-fluid nozzles) produce finely atomized sprays using compressed air.
