Low-impact Testing

Low-impact forces are a specialized application. Spraying Systems Co. uses a capacitive sheet material, manufactured by TekScan, for assessing this type of impact. The forces generated throughout a spray pattern cause the top layer of a two-layer material to deflect toward the bottom layer. This causes a change in the capacitance between the two layers, which are outfitted with a grid of electrodes. The capacitive change throughout the grid is then converted to a force map.
